My look-like-Jlo skin care routine
Updated: Oct 2, 2020
Easy pre-bedtime skin-care routine for busy ladies
I remember talking to a friend about Jennifer Lopez and how beautiful her skin is. Just like 99.99% of the females I know, I told her I wanted my skin to look like Jlo's. Her response was rather discouraging though. "Her skin is flawless because she's a celebrity and a millionaire." In my opinion (and I'm not a dermatologist or work at a spa) I think that is far from the truth. Beautiful, healthy-looking skin is not limited to celebrities or rich people. Consistency and good habits (and sometimes genetics) will give any mom a skin that she can feel comfortable in.
Beautiful, healthy looking skin is not limited to celebrities or rich people.
While I don't have Jennifer's gorgeous skin, I'm proud to say that I've maintained certain habits that have allowed me to have a younger-looking skin. I'm conscious about my nutrition. I drink plenty of water. I don't commit the sin no woman should ever be guilty of: going to bed with makeup. Plus, I use sunscreen even when I don't go out much.
My mom told me ever since I was a little girl to use moisturizer before bed. “Wash your face and put on some face cream and you’ll be thanking me later.” I thanked her indeed! She never told me to buy a specific brand or a product. She was not an expert (and neither am I), but her advice was still unbelievably valuable. Her message was always the same: be consistent.
And that I have been. Not using the most expensive products. Neither am I claiming to be a skin care expert. But with an almost religious bedtime routine that includes a Cleanser, Toner, Retinol Cream and Collagen Lotion, I think I've had good results.
I use Cetaphil. This is a dermatologist-tested cleanser that removes dirt, oils, makeup residues, impurities without drying the skin. Not expensive. Very good!
Moistfull Collagen Toner
If the cleanser left any residues, this will take care of them while supplying collagen and moisture to the skin. My face feels fresh and clean after applying it. All these benefits for less than $20!
Retinol is a form of vitamin A. It may help with acne, reduce wrinkles, and stimulate collagen production. Great product and even better price.
Collagen is the protein that makes up most of your skin. While it is unreasonable to think that you will not have any wrinkles or fine lines after using Collagen - or any skin care product for that matter- it does help keeping the skin moisturized. It may also help reducing water loss and protect the skin. I obtained both Collagen and Retinol as a bundle on #Amazon and saved some dollars!
This routine takes no more than 5 minutes. In order to make this a habit, it has to be quick and easy. And then finally, after a long day, bedtime! Not quite looking like the Queen herself Jlo, but feeling so good about myself.
These products may be #foundonamazon. While the skincare industry promotes awfully expensive products, always remember that a good skincare routine shouldn't cost a fortune.
See you soon!
